Mom & Pops Burgers in Chatham offers an unusual fusion of Filipino flavors, California-style cooking and a unique style of burger usually only found in central Connecticut. It’s hard to imagine anywhere else where you could order homemade lumpia (a kind of spring roll) and steamed cheeseburgers from the same menu, but those are two of the specialties at this locally owned restaurant that opened in November.
Mom and Pop are actually a young couple named Pelinda and Tom Deegan. Pelinda was born in the Philippines and Tom grew up in Meridian, Connecticut. The two met in San Francisco and then moved to the Cape to raise their family . . .
